Geopark Youth Participate in Reading Promotion Workshop
The reading promotion workshop was successfully held at the CECyTEH Omitlán de Juárez campus, with the participation of 100 students from groups 2° “B” and 2° “G.” During the activity, students took part in the talk titled “Read and You Shall Lead” (Lee y conducirás), given by Luz María Ruiz, a member of the Geopark’s Scientific-Technical Advisory Committee. She highlighted the importance of reading as a tool to strengthen knowledge, improve academic performance, and develop writing and spelling skills. Additionally, a selection of books available at the Geopark Cultural Center Library – “Casa de la Maestra Con” was presented. Students were invited to borrow copies for reading and subsequent return.

Revalidation as a UNESCO Global Geopark
This important recognition was received by María del Carmen Oviedo Parra, General Manager of the Geopark, and Martha Belem Oliver González, Municipal President of Omitlán de Juárez, Hidalgo, who has been a strong ally in the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). This recognition represents another step toward consolidating the Comarca Minera as a territory that celebrates and protects its geological, natural, and cultural heritage.
The UNESCO Global Geopark Comarca Minera and the Singuilucan Municipality strengthen their partnership.
Meeting with the Singuilucan Municipal President, Yasmín Dávila López, to establish a framework for regional collaboration. During a meeting with Yazmín Dávila López, the Constitutional Municipal President of Singuilucan, the foundations for a collaboration agreement were laid out, along with the proposed activities for the municipality: Solid Waste Management Program, Zero Waste. Water origin, use, and waste to reduce contamination. Recognition and inventory of local cultural heritage for its preservation, care, and protection. Science for Children with workshops and expositions. Promotion of reading. Inclusion in the municipality. Gender equity in the municipality. Tinacales de Singuilucan Georute. Singuilucan and its natural heritage through maguey cultivation. Creation of the Geopark Guardians, custodians of heritage in Singuilucan. Development of the municipality’s risk maps. Schedule of the signing of a collaboration agreement.

The UNESCO Global Geopark Comarca Minera and the ICATHI strengthen their partnership to achieve shared goals
We are working on a collaboration agreement with ICATHI to instruct the managers of the Huasca de Ocampo geosites, train local Geoguides, and promote the programs Zero Waste, Water Conservation, and Risk Prevention.
