The Comarca Minera (Mining Region) is a region in the State of Hidalgo (México) that has geological, natural and cultural wealth of international significance, reason why in May 2017 this territory was designated as UNESCO Global Geopark. Its perimeter houses an invaluable mining heritage, which has left an enduring mark on its identity. In its 31 geosites you can see museums, mountains, interpretive trails, historical monuments and mining infrastructures of the past.
The Comarca Minera territory is located between 19° 52′ – 20° 27′ north latitude and 98° 21′ – 98° 51′ west longitude.
A geosite is an area whose geological characteristics are distinctive of its formation or evolution process and constitute an example of geological heritage, both locally and globally.
In the Comarca Minera Geopark, formal and informal geo-education activities were carried out, through virtual and on-site sessions in the different geosites, schools, auditoriums and squares of the municipalities of the geopark.

With new community development projects to improve water use and have more inclusive communities, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), the Comarca Minera Global Geopark celebrates seven years of its designation as a UNESCO heritage site.
Seven years after the designation of the Comarca Minera Global Geopark as a UNESCO heritage site, sustainable community development is promoted through the creation of the Comarca Minera Geopark Cultural Center.
