In this edition of the Permanent Virtual Geopark Guardians Seminar, we will explore the rich bird diversity inhabiting the UNESCO Global Geopark Comarca Minera and the challenges they face for their conservation. The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Iriana Zuria Jordan, full-time professor and researcher in the Academic Area of Biology at UAEH, who will share her experience in the study of wild birds, their role in ecosystems, and the actions needed to protect this valuable biological heritage. Lúa es una muñeca de tela, que vive en el Geoparque Mundial de la UNESCO Comarca Minera Hidalgo, y que se dedica a compartir con niñas y niños, sus aventuras en el geoparque donde vive, y en otros que visita; a través de libros digitales (PDF), que se distribuyen y comparten de manera gratuita. Lúa es una muñeca Leyo, que es el nombre que Andrea Rivera le da a las muñecas que hace, en el pueblo de Mineral del Monte; que es parte del Geoparque Comarca Minera. JC le pidió a Andrea que me hiciera una muñeca para que él me la obsequiara en mi cumpleaños, así fue como la recibí en una hermosa bolsa de regalo, con un certificado de adopción. CLAUSURA DE CURSOS PARA MUJERES
El pasado miércoles 3 de enero, se celebró en el centro cultural Geoparque Comarca Minera Hidalgo, la clausura de dos cursos dirigidos a mujeres, que el IHM, aliado del geoparque, impartió durante seis semanas. El objetivo de estos cursos es dar a las mujeres, herramientas de desarrollo, que puedan convertir en un emprendimiento laboral; en este caso se impartieron clases de elaboración de gelatinas artísticas, y de, mermeladas y dulces típicos. A los cursos acudieron más de cuarenta mujeres, y en el evento de clausura estuvieron presentes: la licenciada Bertha Miranda, directora del IHM, el doctor Giovanny Sosa, secretario académico del Instituto de Geofísica de la UNAM, el doctor Juan Carlos Mora, fundador del geoparque Comarca Minera Hidalgo, y responsable científico del geoparque, así como amigos y familiares de las participantes al curso.
CENTRO CULTURAL GEOPARQUE COMARCA MINERA HIDALGO
Es un espacio para la educación y la cultura en el territorio del geoparque. Ubicado en el centro del pueblo de Huasca de Ocampo, el centro, ocupa la que fuera casa de la profesora Consuelo Velázquez Sosa, quien de 1936 a 1986 fuera maestra y directora de la escuela primaria Melchor Ocampo; ubicada muy cerca de su domicilio. El nuevo centro cultural, albergará biblioteca, fototeca y archivo etnográfico, así como salones para clases como pintura, modelado de barro, yoga, cocina, etcétera.’
LÚA Y EL MUSEO DE GEOFÍSICA
Como parte de la difusión de la ciencia para las niñas y niños, el museo de Geofísica de la UNAM; que tiene su sede en la colonia observatorio de la ciudad de México; visita comunidades del territorio Comarca Minera, llevando interesantes actividades, donde se aprende sobre volcanes, el ciclo del agua, la composición de la tierra y el magnetismo terrestre, entre otras cosas muy interesantes. En sus visitas niñas, niños y sus familias, disfrutan de un modo diferente de aprender.
