Geoparque Comarca Minera Hidalgo

Science for children

Geoeducation is one of the pillars for societies with sustainable development, knowing the processes that occur on our planet for better use as for proper planning of the territory are essential.

The main objective of the workshops held by the Geophysics Museum in the Comarca Minera Geopark is to bring the public closer to the different terrestrial phenomena, through scientifically well-founded materials, providing clear and reliable information about them.  The workshops are carefully developed for the audience to which they are presented, keeping in mind the level of knowledge of the attendees, as well as allowing the participants to ask questions to our workshop leaders, so that an open and trusting dialogue can take place.  Simple language is one of our best tools.

Our workshop leaders are mostly students of Earth science related careers, which generates a very fresh and cheerful atmosphere that facilitates the communication of knowledge.   In the case of schools, teachers are interviewed beforehand to know the educational level and the desired objective of the workshops.  Geophenomena such as earthquakes, volcanoes, magnetic field, gravimetric field, space weather, solar radiation, water cycle, plate tectonics worldwide and in Mexico, are treated in our workshops and the Geopark is a perfect place to illustrate many of these geophenomena, which facilitates the approach of its inhabitants to their environment, as well as seeking to reinforce the importance of the geoheritage in which they live.

SCIENCE FOR GIRLS AND BOYS AT THE GEOPARK

Promotes cultural, natural and geological heritage, so that children learn about, value, protect and enjoy their environment, and build sustainable lifestyles. Workshops, basic science exhibitions and teaching materials are shared, where they learn how the planet originated, the movement of tectonic plates, the water cycle, the age of trees and seismic and volcanic activities, etc.
