Mineral del Monte
Founded in 2012
The Paste Museum explores local mining history through the food brought by Cornish miners in the 19th century. Paste began to be made in Mexico in 1825 with the arrival of miners from Cornwall, England. Originally, it consisted of a wheat flour dough stuffed with potato, pore and meat. On its edge was a braid that the miners used to hold the paste so as not to contaminate it with their dirty hands, after which they would throw the braid away. The museum exhibits cooking utensils, objects used by the miners and offers a journey through time to understand the historical and mining context of the 19th century through its exhibits.
It is an outstanding place to experience the rich history of the paste, its connection to mining and the region.
