México presently has two geoparks
The UNESCO global geoparks of México are located in: Comarca Minera in the state of Hidalgo and La Mixteca Alta in Oaxaca. There are 12 geoparks throughout Latin America, making a total of 195 Global Geoparks distributed in 48 countries.
The geopark has a vast natural and cultural wealth and important geological formations. Therefore, education and awareness programs are implemented for the conservation and promotion of sustainable tourism, through talks and workshops with the inhabitants, as well as the exchange of transdisciplinary experiences, to have possible solutions and better care of these resources.
